Torture case of detainee by law enforcers in Malgobek reaches court

The case opened against the policemen from the city of Malgobek, accused of torturing a detainee and receiving a bribe in the form of an apartment, has been transferred to the court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in October 2023, four policemen suspected of abuse of power with the use of violence were arrested. On May 3, 2024, they were released, since the preliminary inquiry period had expired, but on May 6 they were detained again.

According to investigators, four employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) division unreasonably detained a 31-year-old local resident and used violence against him, demanding that he confess to drug dealing. Investigators also believe that the policemen had extorted money from the detainee and demanded from him to transfer the rights to his apartment in the town of Karabulak to them.

After refusing to admit guilt, the accused policemen, while continuing to use physical violence against the victim, forced him to transfer the ownership rights on his apartment in Karabulak to them free of charge.
