Because of Dagestani law enforcers' threats, Yulduz Kurashova provided with state protection

The court ruled to provide Yulduz Kurashova, a resident of Khasavyurt, who received threats from the law enforcers accused of torturing her, with state protection.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the case of abuse of office with the use of violence was initiated after Yulduz Kurashova had complained about her harsh detention and coercion to sign a confession to the sale of narcotic substances. She also stated that a large amount of money had been taken from her in exchange for not opening a criminal case.

On March 26, 2020, in the city of Khasavyurt, law enforcers detained Yulduz Kurashova, who was moving in a taxi with her girlfriend. According to Kurashova, she was beaten up, insulted, threatened with deprivation of parental rights and initiation of a drug dealing case. Then, Kurashova, through a mediator, transferred 250,000 roubles to law enforcers, but was still subjected to criminal prosecution.

Yulduz Kurashova has stated that on May 12, in the course of the court session, two policemen accused of torturing her addressed their threats against her. In this regard, a petition was put forward to provide her with state protection measures. At the court session on May 24, the petition was satisfied, the "Committee against Torture"* reported on May 27.

*In 2015, the "Committee against Torture" was included into the register of non-commercial organizations (NCOs) performing the functions of a foreign agent. In this regard, its managers liquidated the organization and created a new legal entity – the "Committee for the Prevention of Torture". However, it was also included into the list of foreign agents; and the organization was closed. Currently, the "Committee against Torture" operates as an unregistered public association.
