Armenian IC reports 13 detained oppositionists

After clashes near the government residence in Yerevan, where 13 people were detained, a criminal case on mass riots is now being investigated. In its turn, the opposition claims that investigators are trying to reload responsibility for law enforcers' actions on activists.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that overall 39 policemen and 21 demonstrators received traumas during clashes in Yerevan. The reason for the large number of victims could be in the use of stun grenades with expired shelf life, the opposition believes.

According to investigators, protesters tried to break through the police cordon and staged riots – they attacked law enforcers with stones and bottles, the "News.Am" reports.

The police have added that "as a result of protesters' actions, more than 40 policemen received traumas."

The police are trying to shift the responsibility for the clashes onto activists, Artsvik Minasyan, an MP from the "Armenia" faction, has stated, as the "Aysor.Am" reports.

Ruben Melikyan, an ex-Ombudsperson of Nagorno-Karabakh, has noted that "there is not a single footage depicting the use of violence by demonstrators against policemen, but there are many images showing policemen's violence against demonstrators," the "Panorama" reports.
