Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of shelling on the border

The positions of the Azerbaijani Army stationed in the Kelbadjar District were shelled, the country's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Azerbaijan and Armenia are periodically exchanging accusations of shelling. On July 9, Azerbaijan announced shelling of its positions from the border area; Yerevan refuted this information.

"In the evening on July 11, the Armenian Armed Forces shelled the positions of the Azerbaijani Army deployed in the dwelling settlement of Demirchidam of the Kelbadjar District from the Armenian positions stationed in the dwelling settlement of Zarkend of the Basarkechyar District," the "Interfax" has quoted the Azeri MoD as stating.

The MoD has added that "the units of the Azerbaijani Army took adequate response measures."
