Chechen authorities' reports on price cuts spark scepticism among social network users

In June, the minimum set of foodstuffs and medicines became somewhat cheaper, the "Chechenstat" (the republic's statistics committee) has reported. However, Instagram* users have shared their observations that prices for most food products and medicines have gone up or remained at the same level.

By the end of June, the cost of the minimum set of foodstuffs per month on average in Chechnya amounted to 5860.6 roubles, and decreased by 6.7% against the previous month, the "Chechnya Today" News Agency writes with reference to the "Chechenstat".

According to the committee, in June, compared to May, the consumer price index as a whole amounted to 98.84%, and compared to December 2021 – 110.74%.

"Somehow we don't feel it! Prices have never gone down, they used to go up," the user _jemchujina_95 has written. "The dollar and the euro have dropped ... but the prices remained increased as they were," the user sherip__ has pointed out.

"Yes, prices have not decreased, but on the contrary, they have become cosmic," the user amirrra asserts.

"It's scary to get sick because of such prices for medicines," the user zama______zama9 has lamented.
