Eleven residents of Reduktorny settlement detained at a protest against blackouts

On July 18, law enforcers brought to a police department eleven protesters from the Reduktorny settlement of Makhachkala, who protested against frequent blackouts. A protocol for petty hooliganism was drawn up against each detainee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on July 18, several hundred people blocked traffic in the Reduktorny settlement of Makhachkala in protest against frequent blackouts. Policemen lined in a chain and freed the roadway for the passage of vehicles. One of the protesters was detained and forced into a police car. About ten women tried to repeatedly block traffic in the Reduktorny settlement of Makhachkala in the direction of Kaspiysk, but the police pushed them to the side of the road.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan, on July 18, eleven people were taken to the police from the place of the protest in Makhachkala.

“No one was detained. The citizens were taken to the police department for administrative protocols to be drawn up. Protocols under Article 20.1 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses for petty hooliganism were drawn up against all eleven citizens brought to the police department,” the spokesperson for the police department told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

According to the police official, after the administrative protocols had been drawn up, all the detained persons were released.
