Residents of Volgodonsk, Rostov Region, protest against construction of NPS

About three thousand residents of Volgodonsk, Rostov oblast, have held a meeting on the square near the "Komsomolets" cinema to protect their social interests in connection with the construction of the second block of a nuclear power station, reports "Interfax." Residents of the 30-kilometre zone around the Volgodonsk NPS move a demand, in particular, to increase their privileges on electricity tariffs and to build an underground water intake to be used in case of a radiation emergency.

The action has been organized by the environmental organization "Green Wave," reports Radio "Liberty."
