Journalists dispute on impact of help promised to families of those mobilized on protest moods in Dagestan
The opening of the headquarters aimed to help the families of the mobilized residents of Dagestan will not help reducing the protest moods in the republic, the journalists, Gadjimurad Sagitov and Magomed Magomedov, believe. Milrad Fatullaev, their colleague, has objected saying that the competent work of these headquarters can reduce the protest moods in the region.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 4, Salman Dadaev, the Mayor of Makhachkala, announced the opening of a headquarters to support the families of those mobilized in solving their problems. Social network users have treated the Mayor's words as publicity. On October 10, the head of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov, announced that the families of those mobilized would receive a support of 100,000 roubles each.
The main mission of the Dagestani society is to prevent mutual hatred and reduce tensions, Gadjimurad Sagitov, the editor-in-chief of the "Novoe Delo" weekly, has stated.
"Any action to support members of the Dagestani society who need our help can only be regarded positively," he has added.
On September 25 and 26, large-scale anti-mobilization actions were held in Makhachkala; they ended in mass detentions. By October 8, at least 148 people had been found guilty of violating the rules for holding public events.
Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik" outlet, has positively assessed the creation of a headquarters for helping the families of those mobilized. "The families who send their fathers to the military operation need material and psychological support," the journalist believes.
In his opinion, such initiatives, however, will not affect the protest moods in the republic.
