Dagestani lawyer achieves ICRF’s check on incident at rally against mobilization

The Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) began checking the actions of the policemen who hit a participant of a protest rally against the mobilization in Makhachkala, lawyer Arsen Magomedov said after the Ministry of Internal Affairs had found no violations in the actions of the policemen.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in October 2022, the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) informed Arsen Magomedov, a lawyer and a member of the Public Chamber of the republic, that the military officials found no violations in the actions of the law enforcers during the protest rally against the mobilization in Makhachkala.

Arsen Magomedov referred to a video shot at the place of the protest action and depicting two policemen accompanying a detainee and restricting him by holding his hands. The video shows the third policeman hitting the detainee in the face. The detainee shook his head, hitting the policeman, who struck him a few more blows. Several people in civilian clothes joined the law enforcer in uniform and also beat the detainee.

The check on the episode has been delayed, lawyer Arsen Magomedov points out.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) believes that there is an ambiguous situation with the guilt of the employee who beat the bound guy. Therefore, the MIA’s officials propose to wait for the decision of the pre-investigation check to be conducted by the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF). As for me, a violation of official discipline is already evident,” the lawyer wrote in his post.

Let us remind you that on September 25 and 26, 2022, the large-scale protest actions against the mobilization took place in Makhachkala, and they ended in mass detentions of protestors.
