Female students expelled because of hijabs are allowed to return to NMC

Five girls-students of the Novocherkassk Medical College (NMC), including the natives of Dagestan and Chechnya, earlier expelled for wearing hijabs, can resume their studies, their advocate has informed. After reinstatement, the girls will be transferred to other educational establishments.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 11, five students, including natives of Dagestan and Chechnya, were expelled from the NMC for wearing hijabs at classes. Now, the college bosses have stated that the students can resume their studies, if they refuse to wear clothes with religious attributes. The girls failed to achieve a dialogue with the bosses, their advocate has explained. Ramzan Kadyrov has treated the hijab ban as a manifestation of fascism and threatened to "take action" for disrespect of Muslim customs.

The Ministry of Education of the Rostov Region has allowed the expelled students to resume their studies, Magomed Nurbagomedov, their advocate, has informed.

“The girls will be reinstated at the NMC, but the question is whether they will stay there or not. I talked with the mother of one of the students; the girl is wearing not a hijab, but just a headscarf, but she is already oppressed there for other reasons ... Therefore, it will be morally difficult to go on studying there; the girls with have to change the place of study," the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project quotes the advocate as saying.
