Defence of Dagestani coach Arslanbekov achieves judge challenge
The court has satisfied the demand to challenge the judge, which was put forward by the defence of Timur Arslanbekov, a coach from Buynaksk, accused of assaulting a law enforcer.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 19, 2023, authorities of Buynaksk refused to sanction a protest action intended by relatives of Timur Arslanbekov, a coach from Buynaksk, who complained of being beaten by law enforcers. On May 20, Arslanbekov's relatives and friends recorded a video message to the President of Russia, demanding to stop persecuting the coach.
Timur Arslanbekov was detained in the summer of 2022. He claims that he had been beaten by law enforcers.
According to his story, at the court session, his defence managed to remove the judge.
Earlier, Arslanbekov said that, according to the prosecution, he had attacked a law enforcer, damaged his shirt and tore off his shoulder straps. However, the law enforcers' attack on him is confirmed by video records.
