Activists call on Makhachkala residents to complain about blackouts

Residents of Makhachkala should fight more actively for their rights with the help of official complaints about power outages, state activists. During a meeting with residents of the Reduktorny village, they explained the procedure for filing complaints to supervisory authorities.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on August 15, residents of the Reduktorny village tried to block the road in protest against power outages.

Arsen Magomedov, a co-founder of the “Our City” movement, and Ziyautdin Uvaisov, the head of the “Housing and Public Utilities Monitor” human rights organization, called on residents of Makhachkala, dissatisfied with the lack of utilities or their poor quality, to complain to supervisory authorities able to influence the situation.

A resident of the Reduktorny village has noted that she is a mother of many children, and the lack of electricity significantly worsens their living conditions. In addition, according to the woman’s story, her father, who recently underwent heart surgery, had to repeatedly walk down from the upper floors of the high-rise building, because an elevator did not work due to lack of electricity.

Gasan, a resident of Makhachkala, said that not all Dagestanis write complaints because they perceive filing a complaint as “an unworthy act.”

One of the goals of the gathering organized by the activists has been to explain that defending one’s rights by addressing various authorities can significantly change the life of Dagestanis for the better, explains Arsen Magomedov. The activist confirms that various stereotypes prevent an average resident of Dagestan from complaining about poor-quality public services. However, according to Arsen Magomedov’s report, the level of awareness has grown significantly, and residents of Dagestan are ready to defend their rights by filing complaints.
