50-year-old Krasnodar resident fails to challenge his conscription

The Krasnodar Garrison Military Court has rejected the lawsuit lodged by Vasily Kovalyov, 50, a local resident, who demanded to nullify his mobilization conscription. Kovalyov was drafted into the army on October 11, 2022, although he had the right to a deferment from conscription as an employee of an accredited IT company.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Southern Russia attempts were recorded to mobilize people who, according to lawyers, should not be sent to the combat zone due to their age or health condition.

Vasily Kovalyov has indicated that he could not challenge his conscription earlier because he was at his military service, and filed the above lawsuit only in June, when he first received a leave. However, the above Court has rejected the lawsuit due to violation of the deadlines for lodging an appeal, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project has reported.

In court, the official of the military commissariat stated has that Kovalyov had himself asked to send him to the special military operation (SMO) zone, since he is a native of Donbass and "cannot sit at home." According to the above official, Kovalyov also did not complain about his state of health. However, it follows from Kovalyov's testimony that there was no medical examination at the military commissariat.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported about the attempts undertaken by Alexei Abramov, a Krasnodar resident, to challenge the decision to mobilize him despite his health reasons. In August, the medical commission declared him partially fit for military service. He received an order from the command of his military unit stationed in Dagestan to return to the SMO zone, but refused to take part in hostilities, explaining this by his health condition due to a serious backbone disease.
