Stavropol law enforcer got off with conditional imprisonment for disclosing state secrets
A court in the Stavropol Territory has sentenced a former operative agent of the "K" police department (a division of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) engaged in counteracting crimes in the field of information technology, as well as illicit trafficking in radio-electronic and special technical means), to three years of probation for disclosing state secrets.
The territorial department of the FSB (Russian Federal Security Service) has informed about the verdict passed to the law enforcer. The case was considered by the Stavropol Territorial Court.
In January 2021, the convict held the position of senior operative agent in the operative search bureau of the Russian MIA. According to the court's conclusions, he "informed his colleague about secret operative investigative measures conducted against his friend," the "Vesti.Stavropolye" TV channel has reported.
The fact of disclosure of state secrets was recorded by FSB officers; as a result, the court found the former law enforcer guilty and sentenced him to three years of conditional imprisonment.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that last December it became known about the verdict to a former policeman in the Rostov Region, accused of a similar crime. The Rostov Regional Court sentenced the former criminal investigation officer to a real two-year imprisonment.
