Chechen authorities report 150,000 participants in rally for Putin
In Grozny, about 150,000 people took part in a march in support of Vladimir Putin’s candidacy in the upcoming presidential election, the authorities of Chechnya announce.
On October 7, 2023, at a rally on the occasion of the Russian President’s birthday, Ramzan Kadyrov stated that the presidential election should be cancelled for the duration of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine or held with the participation of only Vladimir Putin.
In their hands, participants of the march in Grozny were carrying posters with slogans in support of Vladimir Putin, the “Grozny-Inform” news agency reports. The massive event ended with a concert and fireworks.
Before the rally, students and teachers of the Grozny universities received instructions to come to the action, as noted by lavette, a reader of the “Caucasian Knot”.
“It is clear that the whole mess has been started solely for: A) the expression of “national support” by the residents of Chechnya for the main candidate for the post of the President of Russia; B) another demonstration of the complete loyalty of the “loyal foot soldier” and his associates to Vladimir Putin. Students and public sector employees will as usually play the role of crowd in the staged performance,” wrote reader of the “Caucasian Knot”.
Let us remind you that in March 2018, before the presidential election, the authorities of Chechnya called on local residents to publish posts on social networks about their readiness to go to vote at the presidential election. Public sector employees then claimed the compulsory nature of participation in the action described above.
