The defence has filed an appeal complained against the sentence of Dagestani journalist, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, with the Southern District Military Court, his advocate has informed. The traditional picket in Gadjiev's support passed without provocations and aroused the interest of Makhachkala residents, Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik" outlet, has noted.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Gadjiev's colleagues treat his criminal case as political persecution and regularly hold solo pickets in his support. As a week earlier, such a picket was held by Magomed Magomedov.
According to his colleagues, Gadjiev was convicted because the above outlet, where he worked as an editor used to voice "inconvenient questions" to authorities and law enforcers.
Mr Magomedov has noted that some incomprehensible provocations periodically occur during the pickets.
Arsen Shabanov, one of Gadjiev's advocates, has stated that the documents on the appeal complaint are already at the Southern District Military Court.
