Relatives report detention of three residents of Stavropol Territory on suspicion of preparing terror act

Law enforcers came to conduct searches in connection with the case of preparing a terror act to residents of the village of Lysogorskaya – brothers Dmitry and Pavel Masenko, and a resident of Georgievsk Sergey Chikishov; they seized equipment, the Koran and their phones. Relatives of the detainees are confident of their innocence.

In the morning on September 6, law enforcers in masks and with submachine guns came to the private house where the above brothers live. There were at least four law enforcers, Darya Parshukova, a Masenko's cousin, has explained.

Pavel Masenko, 18, is studying at a medical college, and the 21-year-old Dmitry has already graduated and works as an assistant to his father, who adopted Islam many years ago, so the whole family professes this religion: the boys have been Muslims since childhood, Darya Parshukova has added.

"The law enforcers read out the reason for the search, saying that the brothers had been allegedly preparing a terror act ... They didn't show any documents, they didn't even introduce themselves; the family only knows that they were policemen because they first shouted: 'Get up, police!'" said Darya Parshukova.

According to her story, law enforcers were talking about a certain Sergey, who wrote a denunciation of the brothers. "And the brothers barely know him; they just saw each other a couple of times in the mosque," she has added.

After the search in the acupuncture room, Dmitry and Pavel were taken away. "I've known the boys since childhood; they grew up before my eyes, they are very good, decent guys, smart, they wouldn't hurt a fly, let alone a terror act, I don't understand how this could happen to them," Darya Parshukova has concluded.

According to Diana, Dmitry Masenko's wife, law enforcers claimed that she was also involved in a terrorist grouping.

Earlier, analysts suggested that law enforcement bodies were motivated to spread falsified reports about detention of suspected terrorists in the Stavropol Territory in order to improve their reporting and for propaganda purposes. The aim of such propaganda could be to warn about the consequences of taking part in radical organizations.
