Trial of editor-in-chief of the "Azadlyg" newspaper appointed in Azerbaijan

The preparatory session of the court on the case of Ganimat Zakhidov, editor of the "Azadlyg" newspaper is appointed on December 26, Elchin Sadykhov, the editor's advocate, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The session will start at 10 a.m. at the Yasamal District Court.

Let us note here that Ganimat Zakhidov, accused of hooliganism and inflicting bodily injuries to citizen Vusal Gasanov, was arrested on November 11 for two months. On December 8, Mr Zakhidov started his protest hunger strike against pressure on mass media.

Earlier, 9 journalists joined the hunger strike in support of Zakhidov, today, 2 of them stopped their hunger strike. However, today new participants of the action appeared - Uzeir Dzhafarov, an employee of the newspaper "Gyundelik Azerbaijan" that was closed, and Yashar Agazade, editor of the "Mukhalifat" newspaper, who is also in custody.
