Nukhazhiev directs to check the information about tortures in Chernokozovo

Chechen Ombudsman Nurdi Nukhazhiev has sent his assistant to Colony No. 2 located in the settlement of Chernokozovo, the Naur District, in connection with the appeared information about the facts of torturing prisoners there.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it at the office of the Ombudsman in the Chechen Republic.

"Yesterday, when information appeared about tortures and beatings of prisoners in the Chernokozovo Colony, the Ombudsman for the Chechen Republic sent his assistant in charge for contacts with power agencies there. His task is not only to meet the Colony's top administration officers, but also to talk to inmates and clear out the situation. Naturally, should the information get confirmed, we'll take the respective measures," the source from the Ombudsman's office said.
