In Kabardino-Balkaria, the case of beating editor-in chief of "Paper of the South" goes to the Investigatory Committee

In Kabardino-Balkaria, the case of beating Miloslav Bitokov, editor-in-chief of the "Paper of the South", has been delivered to the Russian Investigatory Committee for the city of Nalchik.

"The case is investigated under Article 112 of the Russian Criminal Code ("Causing medium gravity harm to one's health"). The investigators do not exclude that if Bitokov's treatment lasts long, the case can be re-qualified into Article 111 of the CC ("Causing heavy damage to one's health")," the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" was told at the Committee.

The attack on Miloslav Bitokov has caused a huge public resonance.

President of Kabardino-Balkaria Arsen Kanokov took the inquiry of the attack under his personal supervision.

The Kabardino-Balkarian Human Rights Centre has sent an appeal to the Prosecutor's Office of the KBR (Kabardino-Balkarian Republic) asking to thoroughly investigate the case and make the results public.

"If someone doesn't like publications of the newspaper, he or she should go to the court," said Valery Khatazhukov, head of the Centre.
