In Kabardino-Balkaria, people help to stop illegal gambling centres

The press service of the President of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has reported that residents helped law enforcement bodies to stop illegal gambling establishments.

Residents made telephone calls to the special anticorruption line of the KBR President and initiated checks. As a result, three more underground halls with gambling machines were closed. Administrative protocols were drawn up on the offenders; the materials of the checks were sent to judicial instances, the "Rosbalt" writes.

The anticorruption telephone line of the KBR President is available round the clock. By dialling the number, one can inform about a bribe giving or taking, use of one's service position by an official in the mercenary aims, and various other violations of the criminal legislation. Then, the information is sent to the competent ministries and departments for checks and taking measures. The data about the source of information is not disclosed, remarks the portal "Kabardino-Balkaria. World and We".

A law was adopted in the republic under the President's initiative, which forbids, as of July 1, 2007, any gambling activities, except for book-maker's offices and totes.
