Fight on corruption gains momentum in Kabardino-Balkaria

Over forty cases against corruption have been initiated in Kabardino-Balkaria within the recent six months. However, the war on corruption is still much smaller than the spread of the phenomenon; the struggle needs essential activation. This was the topic of the coordination meeting of heads of law enforcement bodies.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the press service of the Republic's Prosecutor's Office that in the first six months of this year the authorities revealed 368 violations of the legislation on governmental service and counteraction to corruption. To eliminate the violations, 24 protests and 101 presentations have been submitted against illegal normative legal acts, on which 94 officials were brought to disciplinary responsibility. Nine officials were warned, 6 claims were filed, and 18 officials were brought to administrative responsibility.

In total during the year, 107 messages on corruption crimes were registered, on the results of considering them, 41 criminal cases were initiated, and in 66 cases initiation was refused.

Drawbacks have been noted in supervision over enforcement of legislation on defending the rights of subjects of entrepreneurial activities, including over placement of orders on execution of works, rendering of services for state and municipal needs. The facts of non-observance by state and municipal employees of bans and restrictions established by federal laws are still widespread. There are also deficiencies in the work of bodies of inquiry and preliminary investigation.
