Saakashvili: parliament to acquire more powers in Georgia
New amendments to the Constitution of Georgia will simplify the procedure of government's dismissal by the parliament, while the president will not be able to dissolve the parliament. This was declared on December 26 by President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili, who gave comments on his legislative initiative, which will be discussed by the parliament on December 29.

"It means that the parliament will get more powers to control the government, and all the state agencies will be accountable to the parliament and the people," Mr Saakashvili has stated. According to his story, in case of default of duties, the parliament can raise the issue of responsibility of individual members of the government.
"We'll find the classical European model which meets the most precise concept of democracy," Saakashvili has assured, having added that the Georgian people will be the main host of the country, and everyone will be accountable to them, the IA "News-Georgia" writes.
According to the current constitution, the president has the right to dissolve the parliament and form the government, the "Interfax" reports. The impeachment procedure of the president is in fact possible only under two conditions - president's incapacity and a proof of high treason committed
