Families of Russian militaries lost in South Ossetia receive 100,000 US dollars each
General-Lieutenant Anatoly Bashlakov, head of the chief administration for education work of Russian Armed Forces has informed journalists today that the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation had allotted material aid in equivalent to 100,000 US dollars to every family of Russian military casualties in South Ossetia.
"The Minister of Defence has made an unprecedented decision to award the families of perished servicemen with material aid in equivalent to 100,000 US dollars, and 30,000 US dollars - to every wounded soldier," RIA "Novosti" quotes Bashlakov as saying.
"I'd like to emphasize that this aid was allotted in addition to what was provided under the law," said General-Lieutenant and added that the money was already brought to every addressee and placed to personal bank accounts.
The "Interfax" writes that Mr Bashlakov has also reminded about payments to casualties' children. "Children of lost militaries aged under 18 years (full-time students - till 23) will get their monthly allowances at the military commissariats where they live. Same payments will be made to sons and daughters of missing servicemen, irrespective of the fact whether their fathers were contracted soldiers or took their mandatory army service," said Anatoly Bashlakov.
