Chechnya: former militiaman kidnapped, his mother killed

In the village of Prigorodnoe, Grozny District of Chechnya, unidentified persons kidnapped a young man, who had earlier worked as inspector. His mother was killed. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it by employees of the Information Centre of the Union of NGOs of Chechnya.

"Today in the morning we received information that at night of March 15 in Prigorodnoe a group of unknown persons attacked the house of local resident Zairaeva. The attackers kidnapped her adult son, and knifed her," said a source in the Centre.

In the opinion of eyewitnesses, Ms Zairaeva tried to not admit kidnapping of her son, who had earlier worked in law enforcement bodies as an inspector. "Moreover, before leaving, these criminals threw a grenade into the house. Zairaeva died, and nothing is known so far about her son. This is all we managed to find out," the source has added.

The Republic's law enforcement bodies refused to give any official comments on the incident. "Indeed, a serious incident took place in Prigorodnoe. Now, we're holding inquiry," a source in the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The court ruling, which awarded Madin Gubzhokov compensation of 30,000 roubles for unlawful criminal prosecution, is incomparable with the moral harm caused by the actions of Azamat Kyaov, a former law enforcer.
