In Georgia, oppositionists are beaten

At night on April 28, after the rally in Tbilisi, three unidentified persons beat activists of Georgian opposition.

Late at night, the activists were returning home, when in Rustavi Highway unidentified persons blocked the road to the car, beat everyone who was inside and disappeared from the scene of the crime.

The victims required medical aid; then they rallied on the office of Georgian Ombudsman. According to the statement of Georgiy Chkheidze, Ombudsman's deputy, the incident will be investigated, as the "Gazeta.Ru" Agency reports with reference to the "Maestro" TV Company.

Besides, on April 27, near the building of the Parliament of Georgia, after the end of the rally of opposition parties, unidentified people beat Levan Kalandiya, cameraman of the "Rustavi-2" TV Company.

According to Mr Kalandiya, when he moved away from the building, several persons followed him and demanded to film them. When he refused, they beat him and ran away.

Also on April 27, the Georgia's MIA promulgated the video materials recording a fight between unidentified persons with the founders of the public organization "Together", which was established with the aim to defend oppositionists taking part in the actions in Tbilisi from attacks of unknown persons, as the "News-Georgia" Agency reports.

"It is seen in the video how an attack was committed by a group of persons, among them - organizers of protest actions which are taking place in Tbilisi - Bidzina Gegidze, Giya Korkotashvili, Giga Bukiya and their accompanying persons. They attacked two men and a woman who lived nearby… As a result of the attack, the two men received heavy damages of their health. The attackers took away their wallets, and stole money and documents out of them," the MIA states.
