Works of Orkhan Pamuk little known in Armenia

"Unfortunately, almost no one knows the works of Orkhan Pamuk here." This has been stated by Nelson Shakhnazarian, expert of the "Noravank" scientific and cultural foundation, commenting, upon the request of the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, on the attitude of the Armenian public to the issue of granting Orkhan Pamuk, well-known Turkish writer, the 2006 Nobel prize in literature.

According to him, the public activity of the writer connected, in particular, with his recognition of genocide of Armenians and discrimination of Kurds in Turkey is better known in Armenia, mainly among the intellectual and political elite.

For reference, the name of the 2006 Nobel prize winner in literature has been announced in Sweden. It is Orkhan Pamuk, Turkish writer nominated for the "search of the soul of his melancholic city", who is going to receive about $1.1 million.
