96 percent vote for Kokoity at South Ossetia presidential election

Bella Plieva, head of the Central Electoral Commission of South Ossetia, informed that 96% of voters have cast their ballots for Eduard Kokoity, incumbent president of South Ossetia, and so far, ballot papers from 64 out of 78 constituencies, that is about 80% of the total, have been processed, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

"The Sunday elections fixed an impressive appearance of the voters - a total of 52,337 persons out of 55,000 on the lists have voted, that makes 95.2%," Ms. Plieva noted. She said that ballot papers from remote localities have not yet arrived.

Georgia has already declared that the South Ossetia election outcomes would not be recognized. "The official Tbilisi would not acknowledge South Ossetia election totals," Alik Gongadze, deputy chairman of the Central Electoral Commission of Georgia told the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot."
