20 protesters detained in Stavropol

A non-sanctioned meeting in Stavropol ended with disorders, as a result of which about 20 persons were detained, the NEWS.ru reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that over one thousand persons took part in the non-sanctioned meeting that has started today at 7:00 p.m. Moscow time in Stavropol at the building of the Territory's Government. The meeting was provoked by the murder on June 3 in the Territory's capital of two students - Dmitri Blokhin and Pavel Chadin (today at midday they were buried in the cities of Stavropol and Blagodarny).

Dmitri Kuzmin, Mayor of Stavropol, went out to the rally and announced that the political and social situation in the city was the consequence of the closeness of the law enforcement bodies who had failed to timely inform the townspeople about the course of investigation into the murder of the two Russian students.

After the meeting, some of its participants, among them drunken young people, left the rally site and made their way along Lenin Street. The crowd crushed down a summer cafe, presumably belonging to natives from Chechnya. Some participants of the pogroms who were shouting out "Russia!" and "Fame to Russia!" were detained by militia at the building of the Medical Academy, the place where the two students were killed earlier.
