General Prosecutor's Office announces clearing Politkovskaya's murder
Sources from the General Prosecutor's Office are stating that the murder case of Anna Politkovskaya, a journalist of the "Novaya Gazeta" newspaper, has been cleared: perpetrators detained, inspectors know the killer and even have assumptions as to the customer of the crime.
Petros Garibyan, senior inspector on especially important cases of the Investigatory Committee under the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation, has informed the "Interfax" that as of today in Politkovskaya's murder case charges have been presented to 11 figurants, 10 of them are arrested. "We've not presented charges to the killer yet, but we know him," Mr Garibyan has emphasized. He has also added that direct organizers, who coordinated the actions of the executors, and the executors of the murder themselves, are behind the bars.
"As to the customers, we have interesting assumptions - let's give it like that. Nothing more to say so far," Inspector Garibyan said.
"A different matter is that we need to reveal the whole chain: from the customer to executor - and to prepare incontestable proofs of the guilt for the court," Petros Garibyan said in his interview to the "Novaya Gazeta," published on October 8. The newspaper closely cooperates with the inspectors in this case, abstaining so far from publishing any information on many details of the prosecutors' work and the results of the paper's own investigation held in parallel, The New York Times writes.
We remind you that the investigation continues to scrutinize the foreign traces of the murder. Now, they speak about Ukraine.
