Opposition accuses Georgian authorities of political terror

Leader of the "People's Party" Koba Davitashvili thinks that ex-President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili has declared war to his political opponents.

"An attack was made on the head of our electoral headquarters in the city of Tskhaltubo, then, in Gardabani another head of our Party's electoral headquarters was beaten and thrown out in the forest with his hands roped," Koba Davitashvili told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In her turn, Salome Zurabishvili, leader of the "Georgia's Way" Party, has reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent:

"We have to fight in such conditions when the "Imedi" TV Company is stopped, and there is direct pressure on people, sometimes financial, sometimes physical. In the regions, authorities use photos of our people in order to find and intimidate them. It is dangerous to have any ties with the opposition. Two days ago our activists were beaten in the city of Rustavi."

Levan Gachechiladze, candidate from the united opposition, has informed that the situation is so much strained that his friends and business colleagues were afraid to attend the presentation of his electoral programme.

We remind you that according to Tinatin Khidasheli, one of the leaders of the Republican Party, ten opposition supporters were beaten and detained today in Batumi.

According to her story, the detainees are the participants of the protest action held in Batumi in defence of the "Imedi" TV Company and in protest against political terror in the country.
