Ter-Petrosyan accuses international organizations of post-election situation in Armenia

Levon Ter-Petrosyan, candidate for President of Armenia, has assured, when speaking today to the rally of the united opposition, dedicated to summing up the election, that the opposition has a precisely developed and clear action plan, directed towards overthrow of the current power.

"When implementing the plan, we need to keep balance and not to give in to provocations. I assure you that we shall achieve victory over this regime. Basically, nothing new happened in Armenia - the will of people and their choice were again trampled, like it was in 1998 and 2003," the first president of Armenia has stated.

He drew the attention of the rally to the role played by the so-called oligarchs in organization of violent actions and in falsifications in general.

He has also accused international organizations of the resulting post-election situation. "I had warned that numerous violations are possible and emphasized the necessity to use marking of the index finger of those who have voted and to print ballot papers abroad. However, my remarks were ignored."

He has also reminded that he had especially warned international organizations as to the voters' count. Thus, as he said, the real number of participating voters is about 1.1 million, while the figure declared by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of 1.64 million is too overestimated, since the country has 1.7 million voters in total.

Speaking about the CEC, he has noted that this organization is engaged in sheltering falsifications and violations.

Let us note here that despite the numerous measures undertaken by the police with the aim to restrict the traffic and flows of pedestrians in Yerevan (they banned shuttle taxies and other public transport facilities) the rally was about 80,000 strong.

After the rally, many thousands of its participants marched along the streets of Yerevan, their final point was the building of the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia.
