Court recommends the Armenian opposition to hold their rally at Matenadaran building

On October 8, the Administrative Court partially satisfied the claim of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), which had challenged the decision of the Yerevan City Mayoralty to ban the rally of the opposition in Northern Avenue of Yerevan on October 17. The opposition was offered to hold their rally in the square that adjoins the building of the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (Matenadaran).

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learnt about it from the ANC's press service statement.

The Court has cancelled the Mayoralty's decision to ban the rally in the Northern Avenue. At the same time, according to the Court's ruling, the opposition was offered to hold the rally not in the Northern Avenue, but in the square, adjoining to the building of the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts Matenadaran.

The Court has motivated its decision to reject holding the rally in the Northern Avenue by the need to ensure safety, since the Avenue is still in the process of construction.

Let us note here that Yerevan Mayoralty has refused to sanction the rally and march of the opposition, having offered, instead of the Northern Avenue, the territory adjoining the gym named "Dynamo".
