Action against violence in Iran held in Baku
In Azerbaijan, activists of the pro-governmental party named "Modern Musavat" made an attempt on June 22 to hold a picket in front of the Iranian embassy in Baku with a demand to put an end to violence against participants of protest actions against falsification of presidential election.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that policemen did not let the picketers to the embassy building. Only one of them was let to the embassy and hand over the resolution of the action. However, the Iranian diplomatic mission refused to take the resolution, which demanded "to stop violence and settle the electoral crisis within the bounds of the Constitution and laws."
In the course of a brief action held in the Mirza Fatali Akhundov Garden, some 100 meters from the embassy, activists of the "Modern Musavat" demanded to respect national and cultural rights of the Azerbaijan population of Iran and raised posters with the slogan "Education in mother tongue!" They also demanded to stop repressions against Azerbaijani activists in Iran.
