Armenia: political prisoner Arakelyan stops his hunger strike

Young activist of the opposition Tigran Arakelyan, arrested on charge of attacking a policeman, has stated today that he gave up the hunger strike announced by him in prison and plans to choose other methods of his struggle.

By means of his advocate Vardui Elbakyan, Tigran Arakelyan has also addressed his comrades from the Armenian National Congress (ANC) with an appeal to stop their hunger strike in his support.

"In view of my illegal arrest and feeling anxiety for the health of my friends, I stop my hunger strike and I call my friends to do the same and to make a choice of some methods of our struggle. Our fight is fair, and our victory is inevitable," said Mr Arakelyan.
