Consideration of Azerbaijani bloggers' complaint reappointed for January 22
Today, Gail Mamedov, Judge of the Baku Appeal Court, made a decision to postpone consideration of the complaint lodged by young bloggers Adnan Gadjizade and Emin Milli till January 22. The reason was in the need to ensure participation of the victims - Babek Guseinov and Vusal Mamedov - in the session.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that the defendants themselves insisted on the victims' presence at consideration of their appeal complaint. "We find it necessary that the people accusing us of hooliganism and insults come and be present here," Mr Gadjizade said in his plea. The second defendant - Emin Milli - supported this opinion.
In his turn, Isakhan Ashurov, Gadjizade's advocate, said that "Babek Guseinov and Vusal Mamedov, who play the role of victims, are nothing of the sort."
On January 7, prior to consideration of the bloggers' appeal complaint, the human rights organization Amnesty International (AI) sent an appeal to the government of Azerbaijan with a demand of immediate release of Gadjizade and Milli. The AI believes that the judicial investigation was biased and unfair.
Let us remind you that on November 11, 2009, the Sabail District Court of Baku sentenced Milli and Gadjizade to 2.5 and 2 years of imprisonment respectively on charges of hooliganism and inflicting bodily injuries.
