Sergeant major letting soldiers on leave for money convicted in Rostov Region
In the Rostov Region, Rafik Jaffarov, 35-year old sergeant major serving in an infantry company received a monthly fee from soldiers for the permission to be absent from service. The bribe amount was from five to thirty thousand roubles per month.
In Bataisk, the sergeant concealed from the commanding officers the absence of soldiers having ordered them to turn up at the company facilities at the end of each month. He received the money paid for this service through a bank. The sergeant was detained when receiving money from one of the defectors.
The investigation managed to prove four episodes, for which Jaffarov was sentenced to three year in the general regime colony.
In its judgement the court took into account that Jaffarov had military decorations and ruled not to deprive him of the decoration and the military rank, writes Gazeta.Ru.
