Youth action against terrorism held in Kabardino-Balkaria

A youth rally-protest "Candle of Memory" dedicated to casualties of terror acts in Moscow, Dagestan and Ingushetia was in Uchebnoe village, Prokhladnoe District of Kabardino-Balkaria, under the initiative of young people of the village and students of the Terek Agricultural Technical School.

"The aim of terrorists is to destabilize the situation in the country, ruin the civil society and sow fear and panic among the population; however, they can be resisted by united society, which lives in peace, accord and unity," said Ivan Gerter, head of the district.

Victor Punarzhi, Director of the Technical School, called the audience "to keep being vigilant and attentive, and not to stay indifferent other people's pains." Leaders of the youth organizations "Meridian" Elena Kartashova and "Burevestnik" (Petrel) Olesya Solovyova, in their turn, expressed their intolerance to any manifestations of extremism.

The portal "Kabardino-Balkaria. World and We" writes that the lit candles of memory and a minute of silence became symbols of grief for the terror casualties.

The young activists adopted a resolution inviting the youth of the district "to express resolute protest against extremists' actions who committed terror acts in Moscow, Kizlyar and Nazran."

Apart from the rally, as reported by the official website of the President of Kabardino-Balkaria, on that very day - April 13 - the Orthodox churches of the district held requiem services in memory of all the casualties.
