Bareheaded women in Chechnya were not admitted to a party

Armed guards did not admit the women who had come bareheaded to a festive concert devoted to the Day of Chechen Woman.

As "Caucasian Knot" has already reported, on September, 19, celebrations were held in Grozny devoted to the Day of Chechen Woman, a holiday established in February, 2009, by Ramzan Kadyrov, President of the Republic.

While women wearing long dresses and headscarves were awarded medals "for perfect upbringing of their sons who perished in battles" those without headscarves were not let pass into the hall where the celebration was being held, "Echo of Moscow" reports.

Zoya aged 25 who had come to Grozny from Gudermes said: "I am enraged that on the day of the holiday arranged for us I cannot even enter the hall".

"We are shouting out loudly that we are living in a secular society, in free Russia but local customs like this violate the citizens' rights and liberties", Lemma, a 39 years old resident of Grozny, said and NEWSru.com quoted her speech.

It should be reminded that in 2007 Kadyrov forbade bareheaded women to enter state institutions. This rule gradually spread to other public objects including recreation zones.

In this way, a resident of Grozny under a nick name of pumchik mentions in her LiveJournal a notice in an amusement park of the city forbidding women without headscarves to enter the territory of the park.
