The Ministry of Interior Affairs: 36 gunmen killed in Kabardino-Balkaria since the beginning of the year

The personnel of law enforcement bodies of Kabardino-Balkaria have killed 36 participants of paramilitary groups and their accomplices, Sergey Vasiliev, Minister of Interior Affairs of the republic, reported at a session of the Parliament of KBR today. 

"In 2011 such odious leaders of gangsters' underground, among others, as Asker Jappuev, Kazbek Tashuev, Ratmir Shameev, Buzjigit Khajiev and others were killed" the Minister said. 

"During the same period 48 participants of gangster's underground and their accomplices were detained, five bases of the gunmen's long-term stay and three mini-laboratories manufacturing homemade explosive devices were found. Besides, two facts of financing the gangster's underground were discovered and two criminal cases concerning them were initiated by the investigative bodies", Vasiliev said. 

This year members of armed underground committed 39 illegal actions with the use of arms, 12 officers of law enforcement bodies and 8 civilians perished as a result, 14 law enforcement officers and three peaceful residents got wounded, Vasiliev states.
