North-Caucasian track and field athletes won over ten medals at the championship of Russia in Cheboksary
627 athletes from 61 Russian regions took part in the championship of Russia which passed off in Cheboksary from July, 1 till July, 3, the Ministry of Sports of Chuvash Republic reported. Participants from Northern Caucasus got over ten medals during the events.
At the junior championship of Russia Maria Kuchina, athlete from Kabardino-Balkaria, winner of youth Olympics in high jump, broke her own personal record out-of-doors.
“Maria Kuchina won with a score 1.94. She tried to clear a height of 1.98 but failed so far”, a representative of the All-Rusian Federation of track and field athletics said to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
One more representative of Northern Caucasus, athlete from Karachay-Cherkessia Natalia Statsenko, won with a score 54.30 in a 400 meters distance race.
Combined team of Stavropol region won eight medals in the totals of the competition: two gold, one silver and five bronze ones. Javelin thrower Evgenia Ananchenko and discus thrower Victor Butenko took the highest stage on the podium. Six more Stavropol athletes Daria Sidorkina, Sophia Luneva, Olga Shestakova, Alexander Sharygin, Evgeny Chetviarekov and Alexander Shapran got silver and bronze medals in different events.
A team from Moscow became the winner of team event in the super-lague, the second place was taken by a team of Chelybinsk region and the third by Volgograd region athletes. A junior combined team will be formed based on the competition in Cheboksary. It will take part in the Campionship of Europe in Tallin on July, 21 – July, 24.
