Kabardino-Balkaria: special operation on in high-rise building
The city of Tyrnyauz in Kabardino-Balkaria sees a special operation undertaken against suspected members of illegal armed formations (IAFs), who have been blocked in an apartment house.
"At present, the house, where militants stay in one of the flats, is surrounded; gunfire is on. The number of the militants is unknown," the "Caucasian Knot correspondent was told by an unnamed source from investigatory bodies.
After evacuation of local residents, an attempt was made to start negotiations.
By using a speakerphone, the militants were offered to surrender; in response, they opened automatic fire, the ITAR-TASS reports with reference to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).
