Court fines assistant of former Stavropol City Manager for bribery

Leonid Kozlov, a former assistant of Igor Bestuzhy, the former head of the Stavropol administration, was found guilty of mediation in taking bribes and fined 100 million roubles. This was reported by the website of the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

"The investigators and the court revealed that Leonid Kozlov, having the opportunity to personally contact Igor Bestuzhy, the head of the Stavropol city administration, with whom he formed a trust relationship, agreed with Igor Bestuzhy about provision of a land plot of 5 hectares of the municipal ownership of the city of Stavropol for a lease to a citizen for a bribe amounted to 50 million roubles," states the report of the Investigatory Department of the ICRF. According to the investigators, Igor Bestuzhy intended to obtain the money through Leonid Kozlov, who was in active talks with the realtor.

Leonid Kozlov was found guilty of committing the crime under Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation attempt of mediation in bribery.

Earlier, he concluded a pre-trial agreement on cooperation with the prosecutors. The court pronounced the verdict to fine Leonid Kozlov the amount of 100 million roubles and to deprive him of the right to hold positions in state and municipal authorities during three years.
