Suspects of raping a minor to face trial in KBR

A criminal case of three suspects of raping a 14-year-old girl from the Kursk Region committed in the village of Nartan has been delivered to the Supreme Court of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR).

In total, over 15 persons are suspected of raping the girl, who came to the KBR from the Kursk Region. On July 19, investigators charged three residents of the above village. In November 2011, six persons were arrested within this case.

This May, the Supreme Court of the KBR received the case of a Nartan resident, aged 19, accused of raping and an attempt to rape a minor; the case was isolated into a separate proceeding.

The remaining suspects were charged under the article of "Raping a minor by a group of persons by previous concert", where the sanction is up to 15 years of freedom deprivation, the GTRK "Stavropolye" reports.

In relation to unidentified persons, who had raped the minor, the criminal case was isolated into separate proceeding and the inquiry continues in the form of investigatory and operative-search measures, the "North-Caucasian News" reports.

So far, no comments have been made by the defendants or their defence.

According to the Chegem ROVD (District Interior Division), four out of the identified and questioned suspects in the case, the oldest being 20 and the youngest 17, deny application of violence to the girl. However, according to Azamat Semyonov, a senior investigator of the Investigatory Department for the KBR of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), the medical examination revealed bodily injuries – traumas and bruises of the head and legs – in the girl.
