Mirzaev's defence appeals against extension of his custody

Alexei Grebenskoy, the defender of the world champion in mixed martial arts Rasul Mirzaev, has filed a complaint against the decision of the Khamovniki District Court in Moscow to extend Mirzaev's custody.

On June 22, the above Court extended Mirzaev's custody until August 19. Let us remind you that the 19-year-old Muscovite Ivan Agafonov died soon after he was punched by Mirzaev. At the end of the then session Grebenskoy promised to appeal against the court decision.

The defender asks the higher instance to cancel the decision to extend his client's detention by 1 month and 11 days as illegal and unjustified, as Mr Grebenskoy himself told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The defender expects that the panel of judges on criminal cases of the Moscow City Court will consider his complaint within about three weeks.

So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of the prosecution party on the lawyer's arguments.
