In Stavropol Territory, three former district militiamen accused of abusing detainee

Deputy Prosecutor of the Stavropol Territory has confirmed the indictment on the criminal case against four former district militia inspectors of the OVD (Interior Division) of the Predgorny District of the Stavropol Territory, accused of abusing detainees.

According to investigators, in December 2010, militiamen Sergey Petrov, Nikolai Kryazhov, and Vadim Akhmedov brought a local resident, who was in a state of alcoholic intoxication, to the city militia district station.

While being at their working places and drinking alcoholic beverages, the militiamen decided to punish the man for his antisocial lifestyle. They brutally beat the detainee and burned various parts of his body with a cigarette lighter. After that, failing to provide the detainee with medical assistance, they brought him to the unit on duty. This is reported today by the official website of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation.

According to the forensic examination, the victim suffered serious bodily injury. The criminal case was instituted against the former district militia inspectors on charges of abuse of power and deliberate inflicting serious bodily injury, the STRC (State TV and Radio Company) "Stavropolye" reports.

Till present, the former district militia inspectors, suspected of abusing the detainee, have not yet commented on the charges against them.
