In Rostov-on-Don, activists of "Left-Wing Front" hold action against fare increase

In Rostov-on-Don, five activists of the "Left-Wing Front" held in front of the City Department of Transportation a protest action against rising fares for public transportation. The protest action took place without any detentions.

The activists hanged at the gates of the Department a banner reading: "No increase of fares".

"Several minutes later, some men in suits, apparently security guards, ran to meet us and began to pluck our inscription. However, we did not give up and shouted slogans: '15 roubles pay yourself!', 'No price mockery!'," the "Rostov news agency" quotes Vladislav Ryazantsev, the coordinator of the movement "Left-Wing Front" in the Rostov Region as saying.

In the course of the protest action, the activists scattered leaflets in front of the building. In the leaflets, the activists of the "Left-Wing Front" demanded that companies-carriers should improve the quality of transportation of passengers in public transport, establish sanitary requirements for the admission of vehicles on the route, uniformly distribute transport units on the routes, reduce traffic intervals during the evening hours, and extend transport working hours in the evening.

According to the administration of the regional centre, fares in buses of large capacity will reach 15 roubles. Fare in trolleybuses and trams will go up by 50 kopecks and reach 13 roubles. Till present, the exact date of introduction of new tariffs has not been announced, the "Interfax" reports.
