MIA: Khasavyurt mosque worshipers and former Imam of Endirey village shelled from same firearm

According to the Expert-Forensic Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan, the cartridge cases gathered at the place of attack on the mosque worshipers in Khasavyurt coincide with those found after the shooting at the former Imam of the village of Endirey, Khasavyurt District, the MIA reports.

On August 18, two unidentified masked men entered the building of the Shiite mosque in Khasavyurt and opened fire at the congregation. Eight persons were wounded. Also, a suspicious object resembling a bomb was detected in the mosque.

In the morning on August 19, explosive experts defused a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) planted near the mosque in Khasavyurt. On the same day, Emin Jafarov, 18, wounded in the attack, died in hospital.

"The 5 rounds of pistol cartridges of calibre 9x18 mm, collected on August 18 after shelling the Khasavyurt mosque visitors, and the 9 rounds of the same calibre 9x18 mm, found at shelling of M. B. Muzhaidov in the village of Endirey, Khasavyurt District, were shot from one and the same firearm," runs the statement posted on the website of the MIA of Dagestan.

On August 8 unidentified persons attacked the former Imam of the village of Endirey, Khasavyurt District, who was hospitalized with serious wounds.
