Verdict of Stavropol Regional Court on case against Victor Dvorakovskiy, accused of terrorism, enters into force

The Judicial Chamber for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation upheld the verdict against 24-year-old Victor Dvorakovskiy and Vladimir Skirko, his 25-year-old accomplice, residents of the Stavropol Territory, accused of preparing a terror act and of extremism. This was reported today by the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation.

On May 24, the Stavropol Regional Court sentenced Victor Dvorakovskiy, accused of preparing a terror act and of extremism, to 23 years of imprisonment in a high security penal colony. Vladimir Skirko, his accomplice, was sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment in a common security penal colony. Victor Dvorakovskiy challenged the verdict.

"In his appeal, Dvorakovskiy asked to mitigate the verdict of the Stavropol Regional Court under Article 'Manufacturing and possession of explosive substances and explosive devices' and justify him under Articles 'Preparing for a terror act', and 'Attempt on life of law enforcers'. In the course of court hearings, he also did not admit his guilt under those two Articles," stated earlier Vadim Lobanov, the former public defender of Victor Dvorakovskiy.

In accordance with the position of representative of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation, the verdict was left unchanged and it came into force, the website of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation reports.
