Georgian CEC has registered 17 parties and two blocs to participate in parliamentary elections

On October 1 this year, the Georgian parliamentary elections will be attended by 17 parties and two electoral blocs, said the country's Central Election Commission (CEC).

The CEC has registered the following parties: "Kakha Kukava – Free Georgia"; the National Democratic Party; "United National Movement"; "Justice for Georgia"; "People's Movement"; "Freedom – Way of Zviad Gamsakhurdia"; "Our Country"; "Jondi Bagaturiya – Kartuli Dasi"; "New Right-Wingers; "People's Party"; "Society of Merab Kostava"; "The Whites"; "Future Georgia"; "Union of Workers of Georgia", "Traditionalists"; "Shalva Natelashvili – Labour Party of Georgia" and "Union of Georgian Athletes".

Also, two electoral blocs were registered: "Georgy Targamadze – Christian-Democratic Movement" (which unites the Christian-Democratic Movement and the Party "European Democrats of Georgia") and "Bidzina Ivanishvili – the Georgian Dream" (which unites the "Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia", the Conservative Party of Georgia, "Industry Will Save Georgia", the Republican Party, "Our Georgia – Free Democrats" and the "National Forum").

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a source from the CEC that in total 41 parties had applied for the elections; however, some of them were rejected registration "because of incorrectly completed documents and absence of reliable data on the membership of the party."
